Celebrating Shichi-Go-San Aboard the Asuka II
A weekend cruise blessed with sunny autumn skies

Shichi-Go-San (literally, “”Seven-Five-Three””) is a traditional Japanese celebration held every November 15 for three- and five-year-old boys and three- and seven-year-old girls. Nowadays, the day has become less of a formal event and more of a chance for families and different generations to come together. This year, a family event was held to celebrate Shichi-Go-San aboard Japan’s premier luxury cruise ship, the Asuka II, on its Autumn Suruga Weekend Cruise. Here, I report on the spectacular Shichi-Go-San celebrations we experienced on board and introduce some of the services and entertainment this luxury ship has to offer. The weekend of the cruise was filled with glorious sunny skies, perfect for a celebration. We were treated to stunning scenery with crystal clear views of Mt. Fuji.
